Jin Cheng Li -- Algorithm and System Developer

Jin Cheng Li is a technologist whose skills address the complex patterns in human – computer interaction. He has worked in a variety of situations in industry ranging from telco (technology in practice) to applied research at MIT.

At Premiere Communications Inc., Jin designed a command-based speech recognition interface for unified messaging systems, and advanced a speech recognition and natural language understanding system for an email reader application. He also developed speech enabled IVR navigation prototypes based on Lucent ASR and TTS.

At MIT, where he was a visiting scientist at the Laboratory for Computer Science, he initiated and conducted research and development on speech and recognition and natural language understanding systems (known as Wheels). There he worked with the SUMMIT speech recognizer, the TINA natural language understanding system, and the DECTALK synthesizer.

Jin received his Ph.D in Signal processing and computer vision from the Institute of Information Science, Northern Jiaotong University in Beijing, China. He specialized in image processing and computer vision for his masters degree from the Department of Computer Engineering at Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics in Beijing. And he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Telecommuncation from the Department of Electrical Engineering also at Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics in Beijing, China.

Currently he is advancing the ejTalk effort directed at the next generation algorithm and methods for grammar development, and manipulation.
