Tellme

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ejTalk on the Tellme platform

November 19, 2001 -- ejTalk announced today that it is now demonstrating some of the results of its powerful new human-computer conversation technology. The ejTalk Conversation Manager (ejTalkCM™) development language empowers our staff to quickly and robustly generate sophisticated voice-based applications that run on top of industry standard VoiceXML platforms.

ejTalk has always held that the long-term goals for this industry should be to create interactive, distributed and evolutionary development methodologies that result in truly natural synthetic conversational interfaces. We further believe that these new applications must appeal to the population at large and not exclusively the "Type-A personality biz folk." Even more critical, the voice industry must be able to deliver these applications in hours or days, not the current standard of months or years. Various industry players have tried to approach the problem by encapsulating very specific functions with what are essentially speech sub-routines. Certainly it is important to have a good phone number harvesting module, but this misses the much bigger issue. The market demand is for new things (and many of them at that!).

The ejTalk approach is to provide a meta-conversational layer that accepts a schematic representation of the topic, vocabulary and actions relevant to a specific problem. Applications developed this way will uniformly apply the underlying conversational behaviors more like a human, rather than the individual-module, multiple-personality-disorders that possess many voice applications today.

We are at a pivotal point in the evolution of the voice infrastructure -- not too different from some other transforming times (like when everyone could use a phone or everyone could afford a car).  Things are about to change!

How do you get to the ejTalk Lobby?

We look forward to exercising the Tellme platform in a wide variety of applications ranging from the comfortable everyday needs of consumers to the complex issues of immediate security in these more sensitive times.
