Detroit, Michigan -- June 1, 2001. In an article today in the Tech section of the Detroit Free Press, "Voice-activated technology: Beyond the talking stage," ejTalk was recognized as one of the few worldwide companies engaged in human-computer conversation software systems. The article focused on the increasing interest and demand for speech technology that will
allow people to converse with their machines rather than interact manually.
The article quotes Emmett J. Coin
on one of his recurrent themes as saying, "The more it mimics our human innate pattern of speech, the easier it will be and the less we will know it is there." Anyone who has ever spoken to Emmett on this topic knows how vividly he draws the distinction between issuing commands and conversing.
Other southeast Michigan speech companies mentioned were the Onstar
subsidiary of General Motors, JustTalk and (in a companion article) Clarity.
Human-computer speech technology is on the move in Michigan and ejTalk is pleased to do its part and push the envelope!
